The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District is comprised of over 600 square miles, with an approximate population of 23,000. The operating budget is approximately 4.2 million. The District extends from Mound House at the Carson City line, east to Silver Springs at the Churchill County line. It is bounded to the north by Storey County and North Lyon County FPD. The southern boundary is Township 15 North. Fire protection, ambulance, hazardous materials and rescue services are provided by a combination of volunteers and a paid staff, operating out of seven stations. Ambulance service is provided at the Advanced Life Support level. Our ambulances, which are licensed at the intermediate life support level, respond from six of the seven stations. When a medical emergency occurs, an ambulance will respond and be met on scene by a paramedic. The district has twelve 24 hour personnel, sixteen reserve firefighters, and six 40 hour personnel on duty. Stations are located in Mound House, Silver City, Dayton Valley, Sutro, Mark Twain, Stagecoach and Silver Springs. Construction of a new fire station in Silver Springs broke ground in April 2008 and is scheduled for completion in November 2008. On-duty personnel operate out of the Sutro Station, our most centrally located station. In addition to living quarters, our Administrative Offices are located at the Sutro Station. The Prevention Division is housed in the newest Fire Station #38, located at 199 Sixmile Canyon Road in Mark Twain. Dispatch duties are performed by Lyon County Sheriffs Office in Yerington. Our District has a diverse mix of business, industry, residential areas and ranchland. The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District is supported by a volunteer force of approximately 39, working out of six of our seven stations. The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District is organized under the provision of Article 474 of the Nevada Revised Statutes. The District is governed by five directors elected at large, each representing a designated area within the District. The Administrative Division consists of a Fire Chief, two Battalion Chiefs, Office Supervisor and Budget Technician. The Prevention Bureau consists of a Fire Prevention Specialist and one Firefighter EMT assigned to the Prevention Division. The Administrative Division provides support for all divisions of the Fire District:
